Our Tegimentum is a leather shield cover designed to protect various shield types, including the classic Roman scutum. It provides both mechanical protection and weather resistance while preserving the historical appearance of Roman military equipment.

A typical cover extends approximately 20 cm over the shield edges, ensuring full protection and secure transport.

Historical Authenticity

Leather shield covers are known from archaeological finds, particularly in Northern Europe, including Vindonissa.

Historically, such covers were often made from goatskin or waxed leather and intended to protect shields during transport, storage, and harsh weather conditions.
