Legionary scutum (brass&design)
Roman Legionary Shield (Scutum)
Early to Mid-Imperial Period (1st century BC – 3rd century AD)
This Roman legionary scutum represents a functional and historically grounded reconstruction of the iconic Roman shield used from the late Republic through the middle Imperial period. Its form and construction reflect solutions developed by the Roman army to combine strength, protection, and maneuverability on the battlefield.
The design is inspired by archaeological finds from Dura-Europos, Vindonissa, and Carnuntum, refined through years of practical use and testing.
