Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

1Why are there no products available for direct purchase on the website, even though they appear in the catalogue?
Fabrica Cacti is a small, artisan workshop where the majority of work is carried out by a three-person team. We do not operate mass production or maintain a permanent stock of ready-made items. For this reason, the website primarily functions as an online catalogue, presenting the types of products we are able to manufacture on a custom basis. All photographs displayed on the website show real items produced in our workshop over the past 20 years. If a product shown is a conceptual model or a test piece, this will be clearly stated in the description. The website should therefore be understood as a presentation of our capabilities and craftsmanship, not as a conventional online store. At the same time, from time to time, ready-made products available for immediate shipment may appear in our store. Occasionally, this may even include larger items such as armor pieces. These items are available on a first-come, first-served basis. All products currently available for immediate shipment can be found in the Workshop section of the menu, under the category “Ready to Ship.” Our long-term goal is to gradually increase the number of such items, while maintaining the same quality standards and production philosophy. We encourage visitors to check the website regularly and to use the store filters, which allow easy identification of items that are currently in stock and ready to ship.
2 Can I order an item that is not listed on the website?
Yes. We always encourage you to ask. Many products currently included in our catalogue were created as a result of individual client requests. We continuously expand our offer based on real enquiries and specific needs. If you are looking for an item that is not listed on the website, please contact us. We will assess whether such a project can be undertaken.
3How does the ordering process work?
The ordering process generally follows these steps: Initial contact via e-mail or the contact form. Discussion of project details (historical period, function, materials, budget). Preliminary quotation and estimated production time. Confirmation of financial terms, including the required deposit. Commencement of work after funds are credited. Packing, calculation of shipping costs, and dispatch of the completed item. Each order is handled individually.
4Do you require a deposit for custom orders?
As a standard rule, we require a minimum deposit of one-third (1/3) of the total order value to begin production. The deposit amount is agreed only after all order details have been fully defined and accepted, including scope of work, materials, estimated completion time, and indicative final price. Once the deposit has been credited to our account, the order is considered formally accepted and production begins. The remaining balance is settled according to individual arrangements, typically prior to shipment.
5When will my order be completed?
All items are handcrafted, often from raw materials, which means production times may vary depending on complexity and current workload. While we make every effort to meet agreed timelines, unforeseen circumstances such as illness or delays in material supply may occur. In such cases, we remain in contact with the client and provide ongoing updates regarding any changes to the schedule.
6Are your products historically accurate?
Yes. The core of our work consists of historically accurate reconstructions, based on archaeological finds, iconographic sources, and academic research. Our long-term involvement in historical reenactment, along with cooperation with museums and academic institutions, forms the foundation of our approach.
7Do you also produce film props or non-standard items?
Yes. In addition to historical reconstructions, we also produce film, exhibition, and stage props. These projects may require different priorities, such as reduced weight, enhanced durability, or safety considerations. The nature and purpose of each project are clearly defined and agreed upon with the client in advance.
8How are items packed for shipping?
All shipments are packed with great care, drawing on over 15 years of experience shipping items such as weapons, shields, metal objects, and ceramics. Whenever possible, we use recycled packaging materials, including previously used but fully functional cartons and protective materials, which are suitable for safe transport and help reduce environmental impact.
9How is shipping cost calculated?
Shipping costs are calculated individually after the item has been completed, packed, weighed, and measured. Based on this information, available shipping options are presented to the client, and the final shipping method is selected jointly.
10Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we offer international shipping. Please note that for shipments outside the European Union, additional customs duties, taxes, or import fees may apply. These costs are the responsibility of the recipient and are not included in the product price or shipping fee.
11How can I contact you?
The preferred methods of contact are: e-mail: mail@fabricacacti.com the contact form available on the website. As we are a small artisan workshop, most of our time is spent in production. Response times may therefore vary, but all enquiries are answered.
